This is a debut novel which definitely doesn’t feel like a debut, but a very mature mystery / thriller. AJ has cooked up a riveting, fast paced story with two great heroines cum romance which sheds much light on the devastating effects victims of major crimes have to suffer. It is a great read, though sometimes not for the weak at heart.

Any book of Ali is a book I am eagerly waiting for and although it was known from Fan-Fiction that Ali ventured into the realm of fantasy & paranormal fiction this is her first published novel with Vampires & their counterparts. Let me say Ali really delves into this tall tale which spans the time of Hatschepsut, the one and only female pharao, to modern time New Orleans (with some [...]

Oh my!, a wereboa and a werewolf! Could a paranormal gets more refreshing than that . I like the chemistry betweent the couple and find Jeff sunning himself like a snake cute. The only thing which “weird me out” are so many other shapeshifters like elephant, bear, duck, rancoon, monkey etc. Too far fetched! Quite a unique plot, which could be rather “gross” if you think more about it. More [...]

I love these series, so of course I bought the last batch of the stories right away. This story was a lot of fun and I was especially impressed by JCP note at the end about research. I know, I know it should be a given in every story that settings, be it contemporal or historical are well researched (or well build if it is a fantasy world), it is [...]

From all the reviews I had read and the buzz I had heard, Clicking Beat on the Brink of Nada was presented as a classic gay coming-of-age novel. And it is, indeed. Well-drawn and well-rounded characters, wonderfully penned text that brings the people and locales to life, and a story that, in the end, is beautiful, tender and, sadly, heartbreaking. Like all great coming-of-age novels, this one is authentic, true-to-life [...]

“A Red-Tainted Silence” rocked my weekend, let me be honest. When I finished it, I was not sure how a follow up would hold up to a book I really, really loved. I should not have worried. Lee is the bass player for Dream, the band that Nick and Brandon form in the previous novel. Fresh off of the adventures of that book and his break up with his girl [...]

This a strong book. It is dark, the darkest I’ve ever read from this author. Reed has written about AIDS before, but somewhat more offhandedly – stories about people who happen to have AIDS, but mostly – at least not in the ones I’ve read – not actually about AIDS itself. Caregiver is about AIDS, no use beating about the bush, and about people who have it. Well, about one [...]
